One of my favorite quotes comes from one of my father’s sermons: “Having a ‘childlike’ heart is not the same as having a ‘childish’ heart.” Growing up in a Christian home, I was blessed to be a child surrounded by God-loving parents. I knew from a very young age that I was a child of God and of invaluable worth to Him. As I grew older, that childlike heart never left me. It’s no surprise that I felt called to work with children and youth, trying to create an environment that stresses God’s love for them and their immeasurable value to the life of the church. Some of my favorite youth activities include Youth Annual Conference, Reach Out summer camp, Youth Jam, and the Alive Festival.
Another passion of mine is music—studying, performing, and listening to music. I received a bachelor’s in music education from the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University. My primary instruments are the piano and the oboe. While in college I was blessed to play in many ensembles and tour with several groups, including the Dana Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Dana Symphony Orchestra, Youngstown State Youth Symphony Orchestra, and the Dana Chamber Orchestra. Toward the end of my college career, I felt the calling to use music, as well as many other means, to call youth to Christ. I feel blessed to work in a church that values its youth.
